1As Editor of Lexis, E-Journal in English Lexicology, I am pleased to launch the very first issue devoted to Polysemy. It has been a long journey from the publication’s inception in early 2006 to the completion of the first issue, and I would like to thank all of my colleagues on the editorial board whose help was most useful in selecting, reviewing and proofreading the submitted articles. My special thanks go to Dr. Catherine Paulin, from the University of Besançon, and Pr. Henri Béjoint, from Lumière – Lyon 2 University, who agreed to be in charge of the first issue of Lexis.
2The second issue of the journal, focusing on Lexical submorphemics, is almost ready to be published, and we are currently requesting submissions for the third issue on Borrowing, the fourth on Corpus linguistics and the lexicon and the fifth on Lexicology and stylistics. I hope the articles will prove interesting and thought-provoking, and will enable linguists to gain new insight into the grammatical, lexicogenic and lexicographic study of polysemy.
